Alta Johns Creek's 1st Annual Bazaar!

Our very first Bazaar was a complete and total success! I cannot begin to express my gratitude for everyone who showed up, participated and worked hard to make this day happen!

Last Saturday, more than a dozen vendors showed up early to set up their tables and help raise money for the Boys and Girls Clubs. Between the bake sale, vendor tables and donations, we raised over $500! That brings our total amount raised to $800! We are so close to reaching our goal that I think we should have made it a little higher!!

Thank you to everyone who showed up and participated! Thanks especially to our wonderful vendors: Private Quarters, Tastefully Simple, Nerium, Chris Baker DMM, Ribbon Gifts, Mary Scott Greeting Cards, Paper Shay, O.S.H. Designs, The Scarf Lady, Jackie Weese, Premier Jewelry, Lisa's Luscious Treats, Cooking for Caregivers, Southcare Cremation, Shakeology, and Gold Does Good.

A very special thanks goes out to Veronica from the Boys and Girls Club, who came out to support our event, educate people on the importance of the Boys and Girls Clubs and to collect the money we've raised so far!

We have already started planning our fall Bazaar, so keep an eye out for updates about our next big event! We hope to have even more to offer than we did this time!

Thank you to everyone who participated!!

The Fabulous Fox Theatre

Last week, a large group of our residents had the chance to go on a behind the scenes tour of the Fabulous Fox Theatre in downtown Atlanta. Read what Deidra, our wonderful Assistant Manager, had to say about the trip:

On Tuesday, April 3, 2012, Richard Daley of Ambiance Tours escorted a group of Alta Johns Creek Apartment residents to tour the infamous Fox Theatre in Midtown Atlanta. We had quite a large group of 30 residents. The history of the Fox Theatre was presented by one of the leaders of the Atlanta Preservation Committeee. The behind the scenes tour included the Egyptian Ballroom, Ladies' and Men's Lounge areas, meeting rooms, as well as the beautiful main theatre area.
After the tour, the group had a luncheon at Front Page News, a French decor cafe restaurant in the Little Five Points neighborhood of Midtown Atlanta. We had such a great time and all look forward to our next day trip and future overnight tours.
We are so glad to have partnered with Richard Daley and Ambiance Tours, LTD for our upcoming tours. Richard has planned two exciting trips for our residents. First, we have a trip to go see the Titanic Artifacts Exhibit in Midtown Atlanta. The trip will take place Monday, April 30, 2012 from 10:00 am - 3:00 pm. The total cost of the trip will be $54.00 and includes transportation, admission and lunch at Atlantic Grill in exciting Atlantic Station. Payment must be made by April 20th, 2012. We must have a minimum of 20 participants in order to go!

Our next exciting trip will be to the CNN center and the World of Coca-Cola. The trip will take place on May 14th, 2012 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. The total cost per person is $59.00 and includes transportation and admission to both venues. Lunch will not be provided.

All payment must be made to Ambiance Tours, LTD and can be paid in the office. If you have any questions or would like to sign up, please give us a call in the office: (770) 952-9222

Thank you, Richard, for setting these up and for helping provide our residents with such wonderful opportunities.

Welcome, Deidra!

We would like to extend a warm welcome to our new Assistant Manager, Deidra Stewart.

Deidra originally hails  from Western Massachusetts. She went to college at SUNY at Plattsburgh where she received her BA in Canadian Studies and Mass Media Communications. She moved to Charlotte NC in 1987 and raised her daughter, Nicole, who now serves in the Navy.

Deidra entered property management in 1993. She joined Trammell Crow when they purchased her property in 2001. Trammell Crow then became Riverstone Residential in 2006 at which time Deidra was promoted to manager with another company. She managed that property for five years before deciding to follow her dream of moving to Maine to be closer to her family lake house. In all, Deidra has been involved in property management for over 19 years.

Deidra joins our community not only as a staff member, but as a resident as well! She and her cats are so excited to be a part of our family. In her spare time, Deidra likes to garden, do crafts and renovate houses. If you see her around the property after hours, be sure to say hi but remember she is a resident, too, so don't ask her about the property. "I always say, you can borrow a cup of sugar, but don't talk shop," says Deidra.

We are so excited to have Deidra join our team and know that she will be a great fit for our residents! If you have any questions or would like to meet Deidra, don't hesitate to stop by the office. She is looking forward to getting to know each and every one of our residents!

Welcome, Deidra!

Toys For Tots

Last Wednesday, we celebrated the Holiday season with a wonderful party. As a special treat and a huge thank you for all of our residents who donated toys for the US Marine Corps Toys for Tots drive, we had three guests of honor: 2 Marines and one Navy doctor. It was such a pleasure for us all to get to meet and thank these amazing soldiers.

After all was said and done, the Marines walked away with five large trash bags full of toys for the Toys for Tots drive! For a small community, we really came together in a big way! Thank you to everyone who donated and especially to our wonderful service men and women who are making this happen!

Happy Holidays from Alta Johns Creek!

What Are You Thankful For?

I can tell you right now that I am thankful for my wonderful residents and their kind, generous hearts! Last Wednesday we had our Thanksgiving Potluck dinner, and it was phenomenal! Our wonderful residents helped us get everything ready, from cooking the turkey to serving the ham. Pies, cookies, cakes and other desserts were lovingly prepared and presented by our residents as well!

Our Potluck was sponsored by Sterling Health Plans.

Help yourself to some delicious treats!

We are grateful for all the help our residents give us and each other!
You guys are amazing!
It was such a wonderful time for us all to get together and I cannot imagine a more amazing group of residents and team members. Thank you all for being so great!

Alta Johns Creek Art Show

These scarves were the hit of the show!

Handmade Jewelry! Beautiful!

This Pumpkin Cherry Pecan Bread was out of this world!

On November 13th, 2011, Alta Johns Creek hosted our second annual Arts and Crafts Show. Several of our residents brought out their own artwork and handmade crafts to put on display as well as sell. I can honestly say I am overwhelmed by the quality and beauty of each and every thing that was displayed! Hopefully next year we can make this event even bigger!
